Hansie was born in Victoria West, in the Northern Cape, in 1984. He matriculated from Paarl Boys’ High in 2002. He attended the University of Free State on a cricket bursary and completed his B Comm degree in 2006. During 2007 he started as sport organiser of Cradock High School. In 2012 he completed his PGCE and was permanently appointed as a teacher. Hansie started at GBG in Cradock during May 2019 as a financial advisor. He enjoys golfing, hunting and fishing in his spare time.
